biography

Ventoso (Buenos Aires,1975) uses unconventional materials and techniques that allow him to highlight the value of the volumetric aspects in his works, as well as its expressive force. The concepts of duality and balance are present in his works, through opposing but complementary forces such as light and shadow. The abstract character seeks to emphasize the formal aspects, generating an autonomous language where the visual experience is presented as a kind of irreducible knowledge.

The use of unconventional materials and techniques in the visual arts field, such as high-density polymer, allow him to highlight the value of volumetric aspects and thus to highlight their expressive force. Through the abstract nature of his pieces, he seeks to generate an autonomous language where the visual experience is presented as a kind of irreducible knowledge. Despite the fact that at times he ventured into sculpture with volumetric pieces that crossed the surrounding space, today he generates that dynamic through works that distort from the wall, with a reduced palette of black and white, which provide synthesis and elegance.

Over the years, Ventoso learned to master the infinite possibilities that the polymer provides, understanding how to generate greater volume, detail and precision with each curve or incision. In this way the designs become more ambitious and the optical effect it generates is more impressive in front of the viewer’s gaze. The interesting thing about these almost monochromatic works in relation to the backgrounds, is how at times they seem to almost disappear. Therein the importance of lights and shadows relies by generating intensity and drama, giving visibility to each of the previously analyzed details.

His formal approach to the plastic arts comes from the architectural field, from where acquires the basic and indispensable tools for his training, his work which is inscribed within abstraction. He seeks to accentuate the formal aspects of art through an autonomous language that manifests itself in the proposition of visual and tactile experiences. Rigorously programmed geometric compositions, a fundamental constant in the articulation of the artist’s plastic language, generate a refined aesthetic in works inhabited by painting and sculpture simultaneously.
