The clash
Del Infinito | Hipopoety
The clash proposes an empathetic collision between two Buenos Aires galleries whose lives and histories are absolutely dissimilar. It is an exhibition that takes place simultaneously in these two galleries, where what is exhibited are themselves. It is also a collective exhibition of the artists that circulate and are marketed in both spaces.
The exhibition opens to the public on Friday, February 28, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Del Infinito. At 9 pm we will walk to Hipopoety, Viamonte 949, to close the day.
The meeting invokes a double need. On the one hand, to generate new models of collaboration within the economies of art; an ecosystem that needs to expand and share its markets with imagination, alliances and diversity. On the other, to sketch new transhistorical narratives; to incite sensual frictions and delirious counterpoints between works, and thus soften their prefixed narratives.
Offering new conversations to the art of the past enriches its contemporary potency. It strengthens the relevance of the symbolic capital it carries with it; it shifts it a bit to add freshness or makes it transition to unprecedented and unsuspected meanings. While offering unexpected conversations to the art of the present adds foundations to its belonging and participation within a historical context. That it can maneuver on the paths already traveled -between that which fascinates and expels- so that the stories to be written are more porous, generous and inclusive.
