André Komatsu, an influential member of the generation that witnessed the democratic transition in Brazil and the adoption of neoliberalism in the 1990s, invites us to question the ways in which we interact with the world through his work. His ability to transform urban debris into three-dimensional and installation pieces highlights the duality of construction and deconstruction in our society. In his sculptures, we see how fragments of masonry and recycled materials become symbols of change and resistance, a representation of the power and conflicts that underlie our everyday structures.

Clorindo Testa’s work, on the other hand, emerges from a background in architecture and is intertwined with his passion for abstraction. Inspired by Le Corbusier, Testa revolutionized the Argentine architectural scene with his brutalist approach. His emblematic buildings merge with his plastic work, a testament to his struggle to understand the relationship between the big city and urban life.
